Giving a customer the correct change is one of the most important parts of the job. Getting it wrong loses the store money or shortchanges the customer.
The basic steps are:

Check the sale total on the screen.

Confirm how much cash the customer has handed over.

Work out the change (amount given minus the total).

Count the change back to the customer so they can check it.
